The Clemson Sailing Foundation PDF Print E-mail
General Purpose:

The Clemson Sailing Foundation is made up of club alumni, parents of current members, and others who wish to become involved in supporting the club. The general purpose of the Foundation is to provide the Clemson Sailing Club with the necessary means of maintaining and improving its program.

The club is geared towards both competitive and recreational sailors and long-term support must be present in order to ensure a sustainable level of excellence in Clemson Sailing. Though Clemson University budgets a small amount annually towards the club's operating costs, the financial burden of improving both fleet and facilities necessitates outside this available university funding.

The Club's Goals:

Our competitive racing fleet currently consists of eight 25 year old Vanguard 420's. In addition to being well past the expected 6-10 year lifespan, they are currently in disrepair and are in urgent need of replacement.  These boats are draining the club of its already limited funds and must be repaired in the near future.

With the SAISA requirement of One Design Racing, the entire fleet must be purchased at the same time, placing the investment far out of the reach of our annual university funding. Making the situation even more challenging is the policy that requires all university funding to be used each year.  In other words, it cannot roll over from year to year, eliminating our ability to save these funds to put towards new boats. Thus, the burden is placed upon outside club accounts to save our goal of $60,000 for boats alone.

We need your help to keep Clemson Sailing the way it has been for the past 40 years!  Please donate to the Clemson University Sailing Foundation today!
